Few Rantings

You walk down to sub ways, there is a lot of noise and you are aware of a music far from the pleasures, sorrows , worries, sobs. He comes there with a bow in hand, and a violin.He plays it continuosly, unaware of the travails man has brought, hands never leaving the bow, it goes continously, occassionally stopping for a short breath. As they passby people drop a coin or two in the wooden case. recently there had been a bombing, killing thousands of innocent people. How insane man is ?. to him religion is so important . we talk about religion , but we are not religious. do we know what it is meant by religion ?. if you know , you don't do such insane thing. Why are we so cruel ?. To you killing other is ambition , ideal. somebody kills it for revenge , somebody for food, somebody for fun. everybody names it differently. are not we cruel in our own ways ?. we don't see the suffering. To us ideals and religion are so important. Now there is a fear of death, instead of the silence that created by music.

Thought is, Creativity not !

It is one of the countries greatly symbolizes the modern living and with help of industrial revolution growing vertically with its huge structures and latest infrastructure, with ever changing life styles because of the comforts brought by technological advancements. For last few years there was massive destruction of trees and cultivation land to meet the needs of ever growing population. It happened that you have to live in suburb where man hasn’t yet reached with his technology. There seems to be life at this place far from city without its noises, craving pleasures and sorrows. There must have been sacredness till some decades ago. The sacredness is still there but to lesser extent but soon it will also be under jeopardy as man doesn’t seem to be contended with his achievement and advancements. You wake up early to find one of the fine monsoon mornings you never dare to miss and it never looked the same like before. The mind is fresh and not burdened with yesteryears pleasures, sorrows and its agonies. You always wonder you ever have any of those images left in you. How beautiful it is to be without a thought and its associations. The dark silver clouds are a beauty to watch and there is an occasional lightning revealing its structure. You saw a kid holding her mothers hand and occasionally tapping the water droplets running from edges. Kid is very playful and looking cheerful, not registering anything. How simple life is without mischief, cunningness, pleasures and sorrows. The mind that is devoid of all its experiences, fears and images can be creative. The rest is wary and degenerating. To be free is to leave the word and thought. The thought and word are real hindrances for observation to be.

Some ramblings

For many days it is a benediction to wake up without any strain of yesterday and its images.The sleep which is so important in this modern world, often neglected and have no meaning for educated, brings up transformation and order in physical organism. A gentle cool breeze has swept away clearing curtains and making way for heavily clouded dark sky. The birds nesting on nearby trees stopped their morning raga which greets you every morning, were silent and sitting cosy on branches. An occasional thunder threatened a downpour.but you longed to walk under those heavy dark clouds. It is one of those beautiful mornings this part of the world is often blessed with.

You treaded this path so often, with huge trees grown sideways and perfume of night queen. But it never looked the same.the image, the word which we bound to, is often mistaken for reality.The lush grass and green pastures multiplying their shades in twilight. Everything stopped moving and huge trees lay silent paving way for timelessness. The body gets light and meditation seems to come naturally. You have to be with trees,mountains and the bird on tree for the self to unfold or healing to come through. The desiease, an uncomfortness is often result of a conflict. One should not intervene with physical organism.The patient, who is often an impatient,often try suppressing it or running away out of fear. a suppressed one is often bound to surface in other physical ailements. One should be silent and patient to listen to its story and it demands a great deal of intelligence. The foolishness lies in running away from it. Living is possible when one is in communion with the disease and in understanding the whole structure of it. Then only some remedy is possible. The modern medicine is often seems to be concerned with symptoms. Merely working on symptoms is not end of cure but in negation lies.

It started raining heavily and you taken a stand under a huge tree and its vast branches protecting from getting drenched. Higher up branches birds sitting silently ,grass bowed down and earth nourishing under sacredness

The Morning Ragas

you wake up early in the morning, you walk down to the park that you recently aware of. you feel winter cold ness, you fold your hands into sweater, you look at the morning sky,listening to the chirping noise of the birds,your mind is clear without a ripple of thought. there is a geeking noise of ducks in the pond. squirrels running up and down the trees one after the other, and the two must be couple. there is no fettering of leaves. squirrles running here and there, there seems to be no fear in them. you stop to see its beauty and you have a feeling to touch it. one of them come and touch your feet and your heart.Man is still in the darkness, there seems to be freedom on the earth. soon man wakeup and bring the disorder to the earth , the nature will loose its friendly nature till he sleeps, and again there will be a life on the earth till he wakes up. man seems to be only enemy of the nature.he will keep them in cages and enjoys.he doesnt seem to live with its beauty.he strive for permanency, he feel, only he has intelligence on the earth, there by loosing his sensitivity, tenderness. when you loose touch with nature, you loose touch with humanity and so is sensitivity.there are pigeons around the pond. you silently watch them, suddenly they take a strange flight, leaving one or two, take a stand on the wire.there is a unity in them and of its beauty. The pond is so calm without a ripple, and there are reflections of nearby trees. there is a clear sky and morning star in the east of this vast timeless space.

All set for Good Days Play !

This place has not seen rain for few months, it started raining for last few days and everything seems to be rejoicing. Silent are welcoming the change, noisy started playing in rain and babies are wondering. There is a respite today and the sun is showing its presence and every droplet is reflecting it. Every boulder and meadow is washed out and looking bright. Kids are very excited and eagerly waiting for the play to start. Near the corner believers put an idol and built four walls around. Now the place has become sacred and everyone started offering their prayers to it. A man next door started walking to the ground with chicken in hand, children are curiously looking. The hen is silent and totally unaware what is happening. The idol is bathed in sacred waters and put garlands around.

Now the hen is washed, nicely adorned with garlands and killed to offer to a dead image. The place is filled with blood and permeated his hands. Next to you is a boy who lives next to your house, looking bright and active, recognized you and asked you whether you are a vegetarian or not without any reservation. He continued…. there is a prayer in sacred book, which was written thousands of years before the nationalism crept into peoples’ mind, “there may be no rains for years and…crops don’t come to yield…but let there should be peace among the four footed animals.” He looked serious as if he spent considerable time in analyzing all this. Everything needs food to survive and only the diseased don’t want food. You, me, the dog that is mangy, the bird on tree everything needs food. When it is only particular food, where the taste dominates, the perversion starts and world degenerates. He even added saying that it is nature, which is dictating the cycle. The plants have life too but I prefer to call it as minimal killing. A flower may die and wither away but it comes up again with liveliness.

And he is more assertive,saying “in modern world, taste dominates and destroys the organism but pleasure takes hold. One may have read extensively and know all this but the knowledge does not transform a man and his conduct. The energy which can be used for transformation is often wasted in mindless discussions and endless chatter and eventually this is going to happen.” somebody got bowled out between wide applause and now it is his turn to bat, there he is. It was almost dark when the play stopped and everyone started leaving before him. You both stayed for a while and there is not a word between you and there is what it is. There is no movement in either direction. Time seems to lost its years of deep significance and someone started calling for him and he is back again in the well lighted street. On the way, there is the dog that is mangy, enclosing its tail taking deep breath.

The day that brings DIWALI

Shes cute, pretty and playful. Shes loved one and dear to all in the family. The tradition is deep in her which she inherited from parents. You both share lot of things and there is an affection that goes beyond the measure and the relationship is very strong between you. It is one of those nights where she slept next to you and you talk things that has lot of value and remembered for many years to come in when looked back with nostalgic sense. During one of those talks, she has taught you this song, which she has learn t from her teacher in classical music class. Its one of annamaacharya samkeertana and you are amazed by her memory and the way she rendered it impeccably.

Absense of noise is not Silence !

It's a beautiful morning with clear sky and a rising sun on the east, like a sindhoor on the head of hindu woman. You wonder at the beauty of it and the splashing colors. No wonder saints take delight in their morning activity "sandhya vandam". For yourself are aware of that beauty. You walk to the bus stand watching children walking to schools, with smiles and carry no strains of yesterday. You walk close to them, you exchange smiles. There is no fear in it.There is a care, concern, tenderness. you two are aware of it. soon the knowledge takes hold , corrpution of the life starts. Where there is responsibility, there is no love. To love, is not to be reponsible. There is responsibility when you dont have love. When you love there comes a different kind of responsibility, not a responsibility of yours, but of the whole humanity.

The whole thought comes to an end as the bus approaches. You walk to a window seat and watch people indulging into newspapers, chatting, listening to music. Man doesn't seem to be silent for a minute. To him it is of no meaning. you wonder if any is of us are aware of great silence in trees. There is a stillness on the earth as you watch the mist drapes the whole earth . As bus passes through suburbs, you watch the trees, cemetry, birds. And there is a different kind of silence in the cemetry. there is a beauty in it. Absense of noise is not silence. Its not silence that is created after death. Its not a silence if it is cultivated. As one pointed out, you cannot cultivate a thing like that.There is a life in the cemetry.

Bus enters into a tunnel of darkness, into the city which is full of sorrows, pleasures, worries, acheivements, mischeif , ignorance, authority. is nt there a death in it ?. There is life far from cities, in suburbs to a less degree, and death in city. The bus came to its destination and there is end of whole silence and so is the beauty of it.

is there a change ?

The mind which is occupied, burdened can only produce what it holds.It can never be creative. Rather we prefer to die to the old which is known, secure and pleasurable. Did we ever tried to go beyond the words and understand what lies beneath. If one is silent enough and have a listening ear a beautiful song reveals itself beautifully and total strcture of it whether it may be lyrics or the instruments played behind. Certainly the sound has its own effect and it evokes a certain kind of feeling which is beyond the measure. But certainly not a thing to catch and to be worked upon to day dream which often we tempted to.Every song needs a certain space (rest) to be heard and assimilated. In this space the understanding of the music/lyrics will take place.
